RESOURCE HUB
Information, resources and services to power your soil health journey.
NM HSWG provides free in-field soil health assessments for range-and cropland, in person or online.
Our team can consult on how to apply the soil health principles and related topics, including:
- soil health assessments
- grazing & crop management
- erosion control & land remediation
- permaculture
- forestry & wildlife
- cultural resources
After an initial free consultation, fees may apply for follow-up and technical assistance. Assistance through our Traditional Lands Program is always free of charge.

Where can I find high quality compost? What’s a good source for cover crop seeds? Is there a no-till drill available in my area?
We get these questions a lot.
At our Field Days, we often have materials available free of charge (e.g. compost or cover crop seed).
Plus, we keep online directories of soil health material suppliers and equipment libraries in New Mexico (–let us know if you have something to add).

We don’t give out grants ourselves, but we do offer one-on-one grant writing assistance for those interested in applying to the Healthy Soil Program under the New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA).
We can also help with applications for a Recycling and Illegal Dumping (RAID) grant from the New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) for composting projects.
Both grant programs are usually accepting applications at the beginning of the calendar year.

NM HSWG offers zero to low-interest bridge loans to recipients of NMDA’s Healthy Soil Program grants, so that grantees don’t have to advance funds to start their healthy soil projects.
Please note: NM HSWG does not give grants directly.
We love to share the joy and wonder of soil health through hands-on educational activities and microscopy for kids, youth, students in higher education and adults.
